01 — Planning

Map the areas before the day

See exactly what will be treated — and what will not.

Liposuction is planned standing up, with the areas drawn onto you. Fat sits differently when you lie down, so a plan made on a couch is not the plan you will see in a mirror afterwards.

Together you decide which areas are treated, in what order, and whether the volume is safe to remove in one session. Where it is not, we stage it — that is a planning decision made with you, not a surprise on the day.

Markings guide the plan. They illustrate an expected direction, not a guaranteed outcome.

What is liposuction?

Liposuction removes localized fat deposits that resist diet and exercise — such as the abdomen, waist, arms, and thighs — to refine your contours and proportions. It is a body-shaping procedure for specific areas, not a weight-loss treatment.

At YOUNIFY you can choose standard liposuction or VASER, which uses ultrasound energy to emulsify fat before removal for finer definition and less trauma to surrounding tissue. Our surgeons assess each area and fat volume to plan the right approach for you.

Concerns it addresses

01

Stubborn localized fat

Pockets of fat — belly, waist, thighs — that resist diet and exercise.

02

Waist / flanks / back rolls

Flank and back fat that blurs the waistline and a streamlined shape.

03

Fuller arms / thighs

Fat on the upper arms or thighs that leaves the proportions unbalanced.

04

Fat that stays after weight loss

Resistant areas that remain even once you've reached a stable weight.

Standard Liposuction vs VASER

Both techniques work well — your surgeon will help choose the best fit for your area and goals.

Liposuction vs Tummy Tuck

The most common question in this service line. They treat different problems, and are often combined.

How we plan your result

Good body contouring is about proportion and smooth lines, not removing the most fat possible. Skin elasticity determines how well the skin redrapes, so liposuction is planned across the whole silhouette, taking fat in even layers for a smooth result.

Proportion & linesDesigned so waist, hips, and torso relate — not just spot-reducing one area.
Skin elasticityElastic skin redrapes and tightens more attractively after fat is removed.
Smooth, even layersSuctioning the right layer evenly avoids rippling or unevenness.

Your planning options

Areas treatedAbdomen, flanks, back, arms, thighs or chest — singly or in combination. Which areas can be done together depends on the total volume.
Volume in one sessionThere is a safe limit to how much can be removed at once. Where the amount needed is large, we stage it rather than exceed it.
Fat transferFat removed from one area can be re-injected elsewhere in the same session, if you want volume added as well as reduced.

Who is it for

  • Those with localized fat that resists diet and exercise
  • Those near their ideal weight who want to refine their contours
  • Those with good skin elasticity
  • Those in good health with no contraindications to surgery

03 — Technique

Which technique suits the area

All three go in through the same millimetre ports. What differs is how the fat is released before it is removed — chosen per area and per tissue type.

Medical illustration — VASER (ultrasound-assisted)

VASER (ultrasound-assisted)

Ultrasound energy loosens the fat before it is suctioned, so less force is needed to remove it.

Benefits: Works well in fibrous areas where fat is denser and harder to release.

Suitable for: Fibrous areas such as the back, flanks and male chest, and cases where fat is being harvested for grafting.

Medical illustration — Standard (suction-assisted)

Standard (suction-assisted)

The established technique: fat is loosened mechanically by the cannula and suctioned directly.

Benefits: Direct and predictable in soft fat, with no energy applied to the tissue.

Suitable for: Softer areas such as the abdomen, thighs and upper arms.

Medical illustration — Fat transfer (grafting)

Fat transfer (grafting)

Fat removed from one area is processed and re-injected into another in the same session.

Benefits: Uses your own tissue, so nothing foreign is introduced.

Suitable for: Patients who want volume added elsewhere while an area is reduced. Not all transferred fat survives, so the result is assessed once it has settled.

Sterile instrument protocol

Instruments and implants are handled under a documented sterile protocol.

The treatment process

Step 1

Consult & mark areas

Assess fat, skin elasticity, and proportion, and mark the areas together.

Step 2

Plan the technique

Choose standard or VASER and the right number of areas.

Step 3

Prepare for the procedure

Fitness checks and preparation guidance.

Step 4

Procedure day

Performed in a standard operating theatre through tiny incisions by a specialist.

Step 5

Aftercare

A compression garment as scheduled, a swelling program, and care guidance.

Step 6

Follow-up

Reviews as the contour settles and the skin tightens.

Recovery timeline

First 1–3 daysSwelling and bruising are normal; wear your compression garment and manage symptoms with prescribed medication.
First weekResume light daily activities; keep wearing the compression garment to reduce swelling.
2–4 weeksSwelling noticeably subsides and your new shape begins to show.
1–3 monthsContours settle further; return to exercise as advised by your surgeon.

Frequently asked questions

Is liposuction a way to lose weight?

No — liposuction refines specific areas rather than reducing overall weight. It suits people near their ideal weight with stubborn, localized fat.

How is VASER different from standard lipo?

VASER uses ultrasound energy to emulsify fat before removal, so it is gentler on surrounding tissue and gives finer definition.

Will the fat come back?

Fat cells removed from an area do not return there, but remaining cells can enlarge with significant weight gain — so maintaining your weight helps preserve results.

Will my skin sag afterward?

It depends on your skin elasticity. If laxity is significant, your surgeon may recommend a skin-tightening add-on such as BODYtite or Renuvion.
