What is Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) Stomach Tightening?
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is a non-surgical weight loss treatment performed using a thin, flexible tube called an endoscope. The endoscope is gently passed through the mouth, allowing the doctor to see and treat the digestive system without making any cuts on the skin.
Because there are no surgical incisions, these procedures are minimally invasive and typically have a shorter recovery time compared to traditional surgery.
Safety & Potential Complications
ESG is minimally invasive. The rate of serious complications reported in the literature is approximately 1.5–2.3% (ASGE–ESGE Joint Guideline, Gastrointest Endosc 2024;99:867-85; SOFFCOMM Position Statement, J Visc Surg 2025;162:71-78).
For patients assessed as suitable, ESG is a minimally invasive procedure with a low reported rate of serious complications. Any comparison with surgery must be considered individually with our medical team.

Loose skin after major weight loss is a change in structure rather than a weight problem, and it is addressed surgically once your weight has been stable, for example with a tummy tuck, an arm or thigh lift, or a face and neck lift. What is the difference between ESG, an intragastric balloon, and a gastric sleeve?
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) narrows the stomach from the inside with sutures placed through an endoscope, so there are no external incisions. An intragastric balloon is placed in the stomach through an endoscope for a limited period and is then removed. A gastric sleeve (laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy) is keyhole surgery that permanently removes part of the stomach. The right option depends on your health history, your weight, and your goals, and it is decided at assessment. ESG starts from THB 490,000, the intragastric balloon from THB 159,000, and the gastric sleeve from THB 350,000.
How much weight can I expect to lose with ESG?
Weight loss after ESG is typically about 15 to 20 percent of total body weight within one year, and results vary by individual. Continuing nutritional guidance and follow-up after the procedure are part of the program, because they help you sustain the change over time.
How long do I need to stay in Bangkok for ESG?
