What to know before deciding
PRK versus FemtoLASIK
PRK creates no corneal flap and often suits thinner corneas or occupations with a risk of impact to the eye; the first period can be more irritating and vision clears more gradually. From THB 42,500. FemtoLASIK creates a corneal flap with a laser and often suits prescriptions within a suitable range and people who want a quicker return to routine; the early period is usually more comfortable and vision clears sooner. From THB 69,000. Results and recovery vary from person to person.
Who it may not suit
A prescription that is still changing · thin or irregular corneas (an implantable lens may be suggested instead) · untreated severe dry eye, glaucoma, retinal disease or intraocular inflammation · pregnancy or breastfeeding · certain medical conditions affecting wound healing — always tell our medical team beforehand.
Preparation and aftercare
Before: stop wearing contact lenses for the period our ophthalmology team specifies · no eye make-up on the day · arrange for someone to take you home. After: use the prescribed drops exactly as directed · do not rub your eyes · avoid dust, smoke, swimming pools and contact sports for the period specified · wear the protective shield at night as advised · attend every follow-up review.
Risks and limitations you should know
Dry eye and glare or halos at night are recognised effects, particularly in the early period. Some people have a residual prescription that may warrant further correction. Serious complications are uncommon but possible. LASIK does not stop the eye changing with age — many people still need reading glasses later. Our ophthalmology team explains the risks specific to your case before you decide.
Scope of service
Assessment and follow-up take place at YOUNIFY Clinic in Silom. The procedure itself is performed by our own medical team at an affiliated hospital with a standard operating theatre and anaesthesia team — the team that assesses you is the team that operates and follows you up.

Generally suitable for
- Age 18 or above, with a prescription stable for at least about 12 months (draft figures, pending ophthalmology sign-off)
- Overall eye health within the range suitable for the procedure
- A wish to depend less on glasses or contact lenses day to day
Not suitable for
- A prescription that is still changing
- Untreated severe dry eye, glaucoma, retinal disease or intraocular inflammation
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Medical conditions affecting wound healing — always tell our medical team first
If the assessment says no
We explain why plainly and set out the alternatives that do suit your eyes — considering an implantable lens instead of laser, for example, or treating an underlying condition first and reassessing afterwards.
Telling you what is not possible matters to us as much as performing the procedure itself.

FAQ
How is PRK or FemtoLASIK chosen?
Our ophthalmology team decides on corneal thickness and shape, your prescription, ocular surface condition and the nature of your work — not on price. People in occupations with a risk of impact to the eye are often advised to consider PRK.
What does it cost?
PRK from THB 42,500 and FemtoLASIK from THB 69,000 for both eyes. These are starting prices and may change with your prescription, eye condition and care plan. Our medical team will assess you and confirm all costs before anything begins.
How long is the aftercare period?
Early on you will use prescribed drops and avoid rubbing your eyes, dust, smoke, swimming and contact sports. How long depends on the method used and individual healing; our ophthalmology team will tell you what applies to you.
Can short-sightedness come back?
Correction does not stop the eye changing with age. Some people have a residual prescription or later change, and further correction can be considered. Results vary from person to person.
How long must I stop wearing contact lenses before the assessment?
Contact lenses temporarily change the shape of the cornea, so measurements taken too soon are unreliable. As a starting guide: soft lenses at least 7 days, soft toric at least 14 days, rigid lenses (RGP/PMMA) at least 3–4 weeks (draft figures, pending ophthalmology sign-off). Our ophthalmology team may ask for longer if the measurements have not stabilised.
What if my cornea is too thin?
There are alternatives. Our ophthalmology team may suggest ICL, where an additional lens is placed inside the eye without removing corneal tissue — see the ICL page.
