What our vision service covers
We look after two main groups: refractive correction for short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism using laser or an implantable lens, and cataract care for the clouding of vision that develops with age. Every case begins with detailed measurements of your prescription and eye health, followed by a conversation about which option suits your eyes and your daily life.
How the right option is chosen
No single method suits everyone. The answer depends on your prescription, the thickness and shape of your cornea, your tear film and ocular surface, and the work and activities you do regularly.
So the order is assessment first, then a conversation about what fits — rather than choosing a procedure and looking for reasons to justify it.

What to know before deciding
How the right option is chosen
No single method suits everyone. The answer depends on your prescription, the thickness and shape of your cornea, your tear film and ocular surface, and the work and activities you do regularly. PRK suits thinner corneas or occupations with impact risk · FemtoLASIK suits prescriptions within a suitable range and a quicker return to routine · ReLEx SMILE is chosen for a smaller incision and dry-eye concerns · ICL is for high myopia or corneas too thin for laser · cataract surgery is for a clouded natural lens that affects daily activities.

For international patients
Assessment and the procedure are not usually done on the same day, and follow-up reviews are needed afterwards. Tell us your travel dates when you first message us and we will map out a realistic schedule. As a working plan, allow about 5–7 days in Bangkok for laser correction: assessment on day one, the procedure the following day, and a review before you fly (draft figures, pending ophthalmology sign-off). Both eyes are usually treated in the same trip for laser correction, while cataract surgery is normally staged one eye at a time. Our team assists in Thai, English and Chinese, and can arrange an interpreter for other languages on request.
Risks and limitations you should know
Every eye procedure carries risk — dry eye, glare or halos at night, some residual prescription that may need further correction, and uncommon but possible complications. Our ophthalmology team will explain the risks specific to your chosen option before you decide. Some people are not suitable candidates for any refractive procedure, and we will tell you so directly.

If the assessment says no
We explain why plainly and set out the alternatives that do suit your eyes — considering an implantable lens instead of laser, for example, or treating an underlying condition first and reassessing afterwards.
Telling you what is not possible matters to us as much as performing the procedure itself.

FAQ
How many days off work will I need?
It depends on the option chosen and the nature of your work. In general, people in the laser group return to office work sooner than those who have PRK. Our ophthalmology team will tell you the recovery window that applies to you on assessment day.
Is there an age requirement?
Generally from age 18, with a prescription stable for at least about 12 months (changing by no more than roughly 0.50 D over the year) (draft figures, pending ophthalmology sign-off). Where a prescription is still moving, our ophthalmology team usually advises waiting until it settles, because correcting a shifting prescription will not hold to plan.
Will I still need glasses afterwards?
Refractive correction reduces day-to-day dependence on glasses and contact lenses, but it does not stop the eye changing with age. Many people still need reading glasses later on. Results vary from person to person.
Does it hurt?
Anaesthetic eye drops are used during the procedure. Most people describe pressure rather than pain. Some irritation or watering in the first period afterwards is common and is managed with prescribed drops.
How long does the assessment take, and how do I prepare?
The assessment takes a while because several measurements are needed. Contact lens wearers must stop wearing them beforehand for the period our ophthalmology team specifies, so the corneal measurements reflect its true shape. Bring someone with you, as dilating drops may be used.
What happens if the assessment shows I am not suitable?
We explain why and set out the alternatives that do suit your eyes — for example an implantable lens instead of laser, or treating an underlying condition first. Telling you plainly what is not possible is part of the care we provide.
